Microsoft TEALS Program

iEARN KE are closing the CS education gap with the Microsoft TEALS Program. Computer science (CS) skills prepare high school students for in-demand roles and open pathways to economic opportunity. But only 10% of Kenyan high schools teach Computer Studies and disparities in participation are even higher.

Technology Education and Learning Support (TEALS) is a Microsoft Philanthropies program that builds sustainable Computer Science(CS) programs in high schools, with a focus on serving students excluded from learning CS because of race, gender, or geography.
About the TEALS Program
Delivered by iEARN Kenya, the TEALS Program helps classroom teachers learn to teach technology education on their own by pairing them with industry volunteers and proven curricula. TEALS engages students who previously did not have access to CS education, increasing the likelihood that they will continue their CS education and be more prepared for future employment.
iEARN KE bring the TEALS Program to both public and private schools from low income communities to provide:
1. Sustained access to volunteers with deep knowledge of CS and industry experience
2. A supportive community that allows teachers to build their subject matter knowledge
3. Rigorous curricula and resources approved by CS educators and industry professionals
4. Resources and training to develop diverse and inclusive CS classrooms
5. Personalized support from a dedicated Regional Manager

TEALS has been providing CS education to high school students through volunteer support since 2009. Our impact grows each year as we expand the program into new regions and communities. Please see our main program website at Microsoft.com/TEALS for our latest impact statistics and more information.
